Point of the Mountain

The Environmental Epidemiology Program (EEP) at the request of the City of Lehi is conducting a formal community health assessment regarding the potential health risks associated with sand and gravel pit operations at the "Point of the Mountain" (POM) gravel quarry. Specifically, this investigation is focusing on crystalline silica (c-silica) and heavy metals in ambient air. Environmental samples of air and soil have been collected and analyzed for both c-silica and heavy metals. The next steps in the public health assessment process is the screening analysis in the health effects evaluation (see EEP's Public Health Assessment Process for more information).
